William Garland Sharber, 86, passed away on August 3, 2025 at Transitions Life Care in Raleigh after a long period of illness. William (Bill) was born in Pasquotank County to the late Eugene Garland Sharber and Beulah Mona Stout. He attended Chowan College for graphic arts and then served in the Air Force for 4 years. After a long career in the printing business working for various companies as a linotype operator, he retired from Commercial Printing in 2010. He and his wife, Shirley, owned and operated a doll furniture company called "The Wooden Workshop". This allowed them to travel to various craft shows including The Christmas Carousel Holiday craft show in Raleigh. After retirement, he loved spending time with his senior friends at Amplify Church and participating in the various activities and trips.
William was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Beulah Sharber, his brother Theron Stout Sharber, his stepson Derrick Thomas Smith, his stepdaughter Cynthia Marie Smith.
William is survived by his wife Shirley Pash Sharber; son William David Sharber and wife Sally; stepsons Daniel Lee Smith and wife Norma, James Allen Smith and wife Debra; stepdaughters Joy Smith Hill and husband Michael; Catherine Smith Haas and husband Conrad; nephew Theron Stout Sharber Jr, 19 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
