William Patterson

William "Billy" Paul Patterson Jr., 71, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2025, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Born on January 3, 1954, in Farmville, Virginia, he was the son of the late William Paul Patterson Sr. and Gladys Juanita Patterson.

Billy is survived by his daughter Shannon Grice (Arthur) of Angier, grandchildren Nolan, Kamden, and Trace Grice, sisters Nancy Payne and Connie Dandridge (Bubba), brother George Patterson, 7 nieces and nephews, 6 great-nieces and nephews, and long-time companion Connie Ferrell of Sanford. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by sisters Doris Hardison and Janet Patterson.

Billy graduated from Cumberland High School in Cumberland, Virginia, and eventually moved to North Carolina in 1984. He was a skilled HVAC technician by trade. Billy enjoyed various pastimes, such as fishing, camping, watching or attending baseball games, and NASCAR races. He will be sorely missed by those closest to him.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be determined.
