William "Billy" Edward Rackley, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025.
Born on January 24, 1951, Billy was the son of W.J. and Sallie Rackley. He was raised with strong values of hard work, kindness, and loyalty - qualities that shaped every aspect of his life. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Jack, Joe, and Danny Rackley.
Billy shared 56 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Cathy Ball Rackley. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and adventure. He especially cherished traveling with Cathy, meeting with his Garner Senior High School Class of 1969 classmates, and listening to music that brought joy and nostalgia to his days.
A man of integrity and dedication, Billy enjoyed a remarkable 50-year career in telecommunications. Known for his steady professionalism and kind heart, he earned the respect and friendship of all who worked alongside him.
Billy's greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his wife, Cathy; his daughter, Annette Atkinson (Will); grandsons, Tripp Atkinson (Katie) and Sterling Atkinson (Bayleigh); and his great-granddaughter, Lynnleigh. His family and friends will always remember his gentle humor, generous spirit, and the quiet strength that defined him.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, November 6, at 6:00 p.m. at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home 1200 Benson Rd, Garner, NC. 27529. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 7, at 10:30 a.m. at Plymouth Church, 6104 Rock Service Station Road, Raleigh, NC 27603.
