Vernon Belvin Penny

RALEIGH- Vernon Belvin Penny, 79, died Thursday. A native of Wake County, he was the son of the late Mallie Andrew and Ida Carroll Penny. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Hwy. 50 S., Garner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mary Howard Penny; son, Vernon Penny, Jr. and wife, Kelly; daughter, Maria Penny Hansen and husband, Steve; sister, Peggy Penny Veasey; brother, Coye Andrew Penny; grandchildren, Jessica, Austin, Lauren, Sarah and Chad. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Margaret Humphries and brother, M.A. Penny. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Flowers are appreciated or contributions may be made to St. James Methodist Church or Hospice of Wake County.
