ANGIER – Thurlean Upchurch Stancil, 89, passed away at SECU Hospice House on Sunday. A native of Harnett County, she was the daughter of Benjamin Upchurch and Alpha Stephenson Upchurch. Thurlean was the wife of a farmer and a lady of many talents. She loved knitting, crocheting, ceramics and china painting. She was an adventurous cook, loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She worked for several years at the Angier Shirt Factory, as a floor supervisor. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Angier Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Angier. Thurlean is survived by her daughter, Debra Stancil Hunt and husband, Jon of Angier; son, Lester Stancil and wife, Nancy of Angier; grandchildren, Christopher Stancil and wife Marsha of Angier, Ginger S. Anderson and husband, Keith, of Fuquay-Varina, Jon Conrad Hunt of Charlotte, Carlton J. Hunt and wife, Kele of Willow Spring and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Stancil, sisters, Catherine U. Peed and Peggy U. Johnson.
