Teri Lynn Barron, age 68, of Raleigh, NC, passed away in her home on May 1, 2026, after an 8-year cancer journey. She was born on December 18, 1957, in Southern Pines, NC to Jack and Betty Jo Barron. Teri will be remembered by her larger-than-life smile and contagious laughter that warmed every room she entered. She had the greenest thumb and surrounded her life with plants of all kinds. She prided herself in growing the most beautiful "edible landscape."
Teri was a graduate of Pinecrest High School and attended Sandhills Community College. Along with raising her children, she was a certified massage therapist, yoga instructor, and held several office administrative and management positions in the fields of law and commercial construction. She was deeply invested in her hometown community and served with the Sunrise Theatre and The Moore County Historical Association.
In recent years, she spent a significant amount of time volunteering with the Lung Cancer Initiative (LCI) and was selected as their volunteer of the year in 2024. She and her husband, David, hosted annual cancer survivor retreats at their home in Raleigh, NC.
She is survived by her husband of 14 years, David Wheeler of Raleigh, NC; her daughters, Moriah (Thomas) Evans of Columbia, SC, and Claire (Jeremy) Robinson of Pinehurst, NC; stepson, Brody Underhill of Chapel Hill, NC; her grandchildren, Estelle Evans, Vivian Evans, and Thomas Evans; her siblings, Kelly Barron Doggett of Raleigh, NC, Charles Barron of Southern Pines, NC, Gary Barron of Southern Pines, NC, and Duane Woody of Westfield, MA; nephews Will McSwain and John Doggett and niece, Remington Doggett.
