Susan Dorothy Wyatt

Mrs. Susan (Sue) Dorothy Wyatt (nee Egan), 76, died in her sleep on February 24, 2026, with members of her family at her side.

Sue was born at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, TX, on December 6, 1949, to Joe and Marge Egan. Born to a military family, she lived all over the country, including places as far-flung as Guam and Hawaii. In later years, her fondest and most oft-recounted memories from her childhood always focused on time spent with her immediate and extended family, and throughout her life Sue continued to be focused on, and to find her greatest happiness in, her family.

After her graduation from high school, in 1968, Sue joined "Cast A" of the traveling UP WITH PEOPLE! show, where she would meet her future husband, John Wyatt. During her time with the show, she traveled to many states within the US, as well as to Canada, Mexico, and Italy. The friendships Sue made during her time in UP WITH PEOPLE! would, in many cases, prove to be lifelong, and she was still in touch with many fellow cast members at the time of her passing.

In 1980, Sue and John were married and would go on to enjoy 42 years of happy marriage until John's death in 2022 from the COVID virus. During that time, they lived and traveled all over the United States, as well as in Spain, Jordan, and Israel. Their children were son Leonard and daughter April (from John's first marriage), and sons John and Matthew. All were cherished and loved deeply by Sue.

In her later years, Sue developed a passion for family history and became a professionally certified genealogist. She worked tirelessly, not only on the history of her own family, but on those of numerous family friends and even acquaintances. In many cases she even reunited children with parents, or parents with children, where adoption or other circumstances had separated them from each other.

Sue was found to have cancer just days before her husband John's passing, which was later diagnosed as both ovarian and uterine cancer. She spent the next four years battling cancer, while continuing to spend time with family and friends, or corresponding extensively with those who lived far away. She never gave up her love of life, or the people in it, and she remained happy, content, and endlessly kind and gracious to everyone around her.

Susan Wyatt was known by everyone in her life - especially her children and extended family - as a beautiful example of unconditional love and boundless grace. She always found the positive in other people, had something nice to say to everyone, and constantly sought to build relationships with others. Even at the end, during her battle with cancer, her doctors adored her, her nurses fought with each other over who would get to care for her, and her family and friends continued to be blessed by her gentle kindness and never-ending love.

She will be missed.
