Susan Darlene Anderson, born July 2, 1964, in Dayton, Ohio, to William and Rebecca Anderson, passed away peacefully at her home in Garner, North Carolina, on June 16, 2026, surrounded by family after hearing her nighttime prayer.
Susan was born with a rare condition, Riley-Day syndrome, but she never let it define her. To Susan, it was simply her normal.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Anderson; her niece, Christina Chance; and her nephew, Justin Anderson.
She is survived by her mother, Rebecca Anderson; her brother, Dale Anderson; her sister-in-law, Karen Anderson; her sister-in-law, Trena McCloud; her sister, Terry Chance; her brother-in-law, Stoney Chance; and her favorite sister, Donna Anderson. She is also survived by her nephews, Joshua Anderson and Christopher Anderson, and her favorite nephew, Stoney Lee Chance.
Susan loved animals, roller coasters, and NASCAR, with Kyle Busch being her favorite driver. She had deep compassion for others and a wonderful way of making everyone laugh. She loved going to church and looked forward to getting an extra-large fountain Diet Coke afterward.
Susan found comfort in her daily routine, which included hearing the national anthem, watching Let's Make a Deal and The Price Is Right, and listening to Elvis and Johnny Cash, especially "A Boy Named Sue."
She was a fighter. No matter what life handed her, she never complained. She would always say, "I'm fine." In her last weeks, she prayed to God to help her regain her strength and walk again.
Today, Susan's prayer was answered.
A special thanks to Susan's hospice nurse Cheryl Bradford who helped us walk Sue home.
