Sue Vail Webb, 69, was born on January 23, 1957, in St. Petersburg, Florida, and passed away at her home in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Friday, April 3, 2026, with her loved ones by her side.
Though born in Florida, she built a life and family in North Carolina, where she was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
Sue was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a wonderful mother with a sweet, gentle Christian spirit whose kindness and quiet strength touched the lives of many. She had a great love for life, a warm sense of humor, and a natural way of making others feel cared for and at ease. Her presence brought comfort and steadiness to those who knew her.
Sue found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. She loved to read, enjoyed cross-stitching, and cherished time spent with those closest to her. She was a proud and loving grandmother to her three beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth “Betsy” Vail Peedin, Webb Jefferson Peedin, and Gray Washington Peedin, who brought her immense joy.
She devoted more than 20 years to serving as an Assistant Children’s Librarian in Wake County, North Carolina, working at both the Cameron Village Branch and the Holly Springs Branch. Through her work, she shared her love of reading and her gentle nature with countless children and families, leaving a quiet but lasting impact on her community.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jefferson Troy Webb; her loving daughter and son-in-law, Chelsea Webb Peedin and Matthew Peedin; her cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth “Betsy” Vail Peedin, Webb Jefferson Peedin, and Gray Washington Peedin; her brother, Kirk Vail; and her sister, Patty Jones.
She was preceded in death by her cherished son, Ian Vail Webb; her father, Ralph Vail; her mother, Jane Gilbert; and her brother, Jan Vail.
A memorial service celebrating Sue’s life will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 1:30 PM at Hilltop Church in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.
Sue’s gentle spirit, kindness, and joyful heart will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
