Ronnie Lynn Hargis, age 73, of Angier, NC died on Monday, April 13, 2026 in Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC. He was born on November 25, 1952 in Harnett County, NC to the late Denton Wade and Edna Byrd Hargis.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristy Harrell and her husband, Josh; his grandsons; Nickolas Harrell and James Howard Harrell; his sisters, Sheila Roberts and her husband, Dwight and Denise Wooten and her husband, David; and his brother, Glenn Hargis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Hargis and his Shih Tzu, Gizzy that went with him everywhere.
Ronnie was a man that devoted his time and talents to public service. He dedicated himself to over 30 years to the Town of Angier working with the Fire, Rescue, Police and lastly retiring in the Public Works department. He often joked that he was involved in public service dating back to when they were carrying water to houses in buckets.
He was a loving dad and papa to his family. Ronnie would often drive to Clinton to pick up his grandsons to spend the weekend with him in Angier. Those are the same grandsons that kept him up to date on technology, the newest televisions and Facebook. You could often find Ronnie watching Nascar on Sunday afternoons, some old westerns and simply any older tv show. He wasn't up to date on the newest shows, he preferred to take it back a few years.
His family will receive friends on Thursday, April 16, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 300 E. McIver Street.
His graveside services will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 11:00 am in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
