Robert Scott Spears

Robert Scott Spears, 62, died on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Born June 12, 1964 in Greenville, SC, he is the son of Robert Anthony Spears and Lynn White Case.

Scott was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a keen observer of the world around him and could spin ordinary events, like an Uber ride or a trip to the grocery store, into the funniest stories. A generous soul, Scott willingly shared whatever he had. He offered encouragement to those he loved, brightening our days with a quick phone call or a texted joke. He could lighten the mood of any room by pulling off his ball cap and making his hair stand on end, then falling into laughter with us when we finally saw him. He was happy sitting on the back porch, watching tennis, or eating downtown at Vic's, where everyone knew him by name.

Scott is survived by his mother, Lynn Case of Garner, NC; father, Robert Anthony Spears of Greenville, SC; sisters, Terri Conyers (Rand Thomas) of Raleigh, NC and Jennifer Cortez (Daniel) of Thompson's Station, TN; nieces, Heather Herb (Josh) of Clayton, NC and Evelyn Cortez of Thompson's Station, TN; nephews, Sam Cortez (Molly Grace), Joshua Cortez (Jillian) and Jacob Cortez, all of Thompson's Station, TN; and great-nieces Hazel and Isabelle Herb of Clayton, NC.

Scott was preceded in death by his step-father, Art Case.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026 at 2:00pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529. The family will receive friends at the funeral home an hour prior to the service on Friday, from 1:00-1:45pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Fellowship Home of Raleigh, 2712 Patrick Drive, Raleigh, NC 27604.
