Robert Harrelson

Robert "Bob" William Harrelson 89, of Cary passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday afternoon January 26, 2026. He is now at home with his savior Jesus Christ.

He was the son of the late Yates and Lucille Harrelson. In addition to his beloved parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Ida Pearl Keistler Harrelson and his older brother Jack Harrelson.

Bob was born in Mecklenburg County NC and married his high school sweetheart Ida Pearl. The two moved to Raleigh where Bob retired after a 35-year career with Nationwide Insurance. An avid NC State fan, Bob worked as a ticket taker at both Reynolds Coliseum and Carter Stadium. Bob loved to surf fish at Emerald Isle and never passed on dessert.

He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Tate and partner, Mike Tate of Cary, who was Bob's primary caregiver in his final years; daughter, Rebecca Robbins and husband, Billy of Benson. He leaves behind two wonderful grandchildren, Joshua Robbins and Kaetlyn Tate. Bob is also survived by his younger brother, Tommy Harrelson of Charlotte.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
