Richard Gary Prior

Richard Gary Prior, devoted husband, proud and loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, nephew, cousin, and friend to many, passed away in Garner, NC on April 13, 2026.

Born August 3, 1957, to Gwen and Gary Prior, Rickie graduated from Garner High School. Rickie worked 46 years for CP&L, Progress Energy, and Duke Energy, where his work family always looked up to him for his wisdom and experience. He was a dedicated and trustworthy person who was so loved by many. Rickie was also willing to work long hours moving offices and working storm duty. Rickie was a forever friend to his work family.

Rickie enjoyed a life of hunting, fishing, and vacationing at the beach with his family. He cared deeply about his friends and family and was always there when they needed comfort and support.

Perhaps the greatest blessing is the close relationship Rickie had with his brother Jeff. Rickie was grieving deeply from the recent loss of his brother just 9 days prior to his own passing. Now they are together again fishing every day in heaven, which was their favorite activity. Rickie is also now with his wife Susan and his mother Gwen.

Rickie is survived by his father Gary, granddaughter Olivia, several sisters-in-law, nephew Dylan, niece Brianna, many cousins, and numerous lifelong friends.

Rickie will forever be remembered for the profound love he shared with his family and friends.
