Randel Matthews

Randel Arthur Matthews, age 74, left his earthly home on January 9, 2026 and entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He was born on May 9, 1951 to the late Joseph and Blanche Barbour Matthews at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. He was the middle child of two brothers.

He is survived by his two brothers, Jimmy Matthews and his wife, Ann and Barry Matthews and his wife, Sherrie as well as several nieces and nephews.

Before moving to an assisted living home after his mother passed away in 2021, he attended and was an active and faithful member of Kennebec Baptist Church. He loved his adult Men's Sunday School Class. The men catered to him and always helped to make sure he stayed safe on all of their frequent outings to eat seafood or barbecue.

Randel loved listening to southern gospel and country music often time spending many hours listening.
