Phyllis Marie Kiertekles, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, at the age of 83. She was born on April 24, 1943, to the late Joseph and Minnie Chieco.
Phyllis was a woman who cherished the simple joys in life. In her free time, she enjoyed painting, cooking, and playing cards, creating many wonderful memories along the way. She was also a devout member of St. Mary Mother of the Church, where her faith was an important part of her life.
Teaching was another deeply meaningful part of Phyllis's life. She dedicated many years to educating children in both public and Catholic schools, primarily teaching elementary students and sharing her love of art with them. Her patience, creativity, and commitment to her students made teaching much more than a career-it was a true calling and an important part of the legacy she leaves behind.
Above all, family was the most important thing to Phyllis. She treasured the time spent with those she loved and will be remembered for the love, warmth, and devotion she shared with her family and friends.
Phyllis leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Joseph Kiertekles, and daughter-in-law, Julie Kiertekles; her granddaughter, Hailey Kiertekles; her sisters, Marie Dyer and brother-in-law Robert Dyer, and Anne Chieco; and many other loving family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Chieco.
A Mass will be held on August 27th at 1:00 PM at St. Mary Mother of the Church, followed by a private burial.
