With hearts full of sorrow and hope, we announce the Heavenly homegoing of our beloved Phyllis Bryan Ford, 88, of Garner, NC, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. She has entered eternal rest in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Phyllis was the wife of the late Carl Lawrence Ford, Sr., and the daughter of the late William L. and Thelma Bryan of Garner, and sister of the late Joanne Westmoreland, and Mary Pat Raab. Phyllis was a remarkable woman whose life was marked by love, laughter, sacrifice, talent, and an unwavering devotion to her family. She graduated from Garner High School and married her high school sweetheart, Carl Lawrence Ford, Sr. beginning a beautiful journey together that would bless generations to come.
Phyllis and Lawrence were supernaturally blessed with four children. As a young mother, Phyllis made the beautiful decision to devote herself fully to her family, becoming a stay-at-home mother and pouring her heart, time, and strength into the four gifts she believed the Lord had entrusted to her. She understood the beauty of laying down self for the sake of those she loved. Her children were not simply raised by her; they were loved, nurtured, taught, encouraged, and covered by a mother who gave herself completely and unconditionally.
Phyllis was also a woman of extraordinary talent. She worked for many years with Dorothy Original Curtains, where her exceptional ability to hang and install elaborate draperies and curtains of all kinds was well known. She possessed a rare combination of creativity, skill, determination, and an eye for beauty. Whatever she put her hands to, she did with excellence.
But perhaps what people will remember most about Phyllis was Phyllis herself. She had a personality that drew people to her. She was beautiful, enthusiastic, full of life, and especially known for her laughter. Her laughter could brighten a room, and her presence had a way of making people feel welcomed and loved. She was the kind of woman people could easily fall in love with simply by knowing her. Her laughter may be quiet now, but the love she gave will keep speaking through generations.
Phyllis was a faithful and dedicated wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She loved her family deeply, and the blessing of her life reaches far beyond her own generation. Her generations are blessed because of her. The love she planted, the sacrifices she made, the wisdom she carried, and the joy she gave will continue to live through those who came after her.
Phyllis leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured simply by the number of years she lived, but by the number of lives she touched. She gave her family the priceless gift of herself, and the imprint she left on them will never be erased.
Phyllis was an extraordinary and unmatched mother, mother-in-law, aunt, and nurturing Grandma, Nana, Granny and friend to all who knew her.
A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 11:00am at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home Chapel, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends for visitation.
