Patrica Smith Woodall, age 83, of Chapel Hill NC, passed away peacefully on July 6th, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.
For 64 years she was an extraordinary wife - a true partner and steady presence through every season of life. She was a loving mother of 1 daughter and 2 sons, always putting her children and grandchildren first. And finally, she was Granna. A cherished grandmother. Her love was constant and unrelenting, her presence comforting, and her legacy will live on in the family that she held so dearly.
She had a lifelong love for church and found great joy in teaching Sunday School, especially to the little ones. Her gentle spirit, patience, and warm smile made her a beloved teacher and mentor to generations of children.
She had a deep love for music and a special place in her heart for the African Children's Choir. For many years, she supported their mission with prayer, generosity, and joyful enthusiasm. Their songs and stories brought her great joy, and she took every opportunity to share their message with others.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Wallace Woodall; her children, Lisa (Ken) Williams, Damon Woodall, Kevin (Casey) Woodall and her daughter in Christ, Marge Buford; and her sister, Linda Smith Wallace. She was Granna to four adoring grandchildren-Hannah (Jen) Williams, Tyler (Courtney) Woodall, Grace Woodall, and Noah Woodall-and a proud great-grandmother to Wyatt and Brewer Woodall. She also leaves behind Darrell (Jayla) Walton and Aurora Walton, who held a special place in her heart. Each of them carries forward her love, strength, and unwavering devotion to family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Herman Smith; her brothers, Bill Smith and Wayne Smith; her nephew, Tony Smith; and her niece, Shannon Smith. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 10:00 am at Kings Park International Church, 1305 Odyssey Drive, Durham, NC 27713. Additionally, the family will receive friends an hour prior to the service, starting at 9:00 am at the church. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend. A private family burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the African Children's Choir, an organization that held a special place in her heart at http://africanchildrenschoir.com/
