Nancy Urig

October 21, 1937 — April 8, 2025

Nancy P. Urig passed away peacefully in her sleep in April of 2025 at the age of 87. Born in Dublin, Ireland, Nancy proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1983, a milestone that reflected her courage and deep love for her adopted home.

In her twenties, Nancy bravely emigrated to the United States to join her fiancé, Christopher Lawlor. The two were married and together raised four children, building a life marked by resilience, and adventure. As Christopher's career led them to relocate several times, Nancy embraced each move with a positive spirit. She was widowed in 1982. She managed her late husband's business affairs before finding love again.

Nancy married Lloyd Urig, a widower from Sheffield Village. Together, they enjoyed retirement - living in Florida, driving across the U.S. visiting family, and sailing aboard the Queen Mary and visiting Ireland and Europe. Nancy was a senior citizen when she learned to swim at the Y. She rode her bike almost every day, and loved to attend Silver Sneakers. Her adventurous spirit led her on memorable senior trips, including visits to Jamaica, the Galápagos Islands, and a cruise along the Columbia River. She is remembered for her grace, sense of humor and sweet smile.

A lifelong Catholic, Nancy's faith was important to her. She attended services in many churches during her travels, but St. Peter's Catholic Church in North Ridgeville held a special place in her heart. She was an active member cherishing the fellowship and friends she found there.

Nancy is survived by her four children, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, her in-laws, and many nieces, nephews and families.

A memorial service will be held in the summer of 2025 in North Ridgeville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy's honor may be made to St. Peter's Catholic Church in North Ridgeville, OH or the American Stroke Association (a division of the American Heart Association).

Please keep Nancy's family in your thoughts and prayers as they celebrate her life and legacy.
