ANGIER- Myrtle Alda Smith Ray, 95, passed away Monday. A native of Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Grover Artis Smith, Sr. and Carrie Messer Smith. Myrtle was a faithful member of Neill’s Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, led the Royal Ambassadors, and was one of the first deaconesses to be elected at Neill’s Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 16 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Burial will follow at Neill’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Angier. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service on Monday. She is survived by her daughter, Judith O’Quinn and husband, Tony of Lillington; son, Jerry Ray and wife Peggy of Julian, NC; sisters, Pat Mills and husband Norman of Trinity, NC, Shirley Martin and husband Jim of Elkhart, IN.; brothers, Ralston Smith and wife Jackie, Buddy Smith and wife Faye, both of Angier; Charles Smith and wife Mary Alyce of Wilson, eleven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband John Henry “Steadman” Ray; son, James Ray, Jonnie Ray; two granddaughters; sister, Mary Smith McKinney; brothers, Grover Smith, Jr., Loyce Smith and Garland Smith
