Milton Smith

Milton Roy Smith, Jr. ("M.R."), 92, of Angier, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Saturday, May 3, 2025. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Jean Honeycutt Smith.

Born to the late Milton Roy Smith, Sr. and Lottie Morton Smith, M.R. was a lifelong resident of Angier and the longtime owner and operator of Smith's Welding and Saw Shop, where he proudly served his community for many years.

He was a long-time member of Rawls Baptist Church until his health no longer permitted him to attend.

M.R. was preceded in death by his siblings: Elma Smith, Foy Weathers, Edsel Smith, Odell Smith, Cecil Smith, Patricia Ator, Peggy Smith, and Jerry Smith. He is survived by many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Chris, Jamese, Diane, Nicole, and Yvonne, as well as Harnett County EMS and the Angier Black River Fire Department for their kindness and support.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 8, from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at Rawls Baptist Church, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rawls Baptist Church, 10665 U.S. 401 N, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
