Mildred Holland Hicks

Mrs. Mildred Holland Hicks, 94, was surrounded by loving family members when she ended her earthly journey and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 15, 2016.  She was born August 5, 1922, in Marion, NC, to the late Lewis Franklin Holland and Hattie Vaughn Holland. Mildred was a career homemaker who loved to cook and care for others. Until her health declined, she faithfully attended Fellowship Baptist Church where she was a member for more than 55 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Marion M. Hicks; two sons, Edward Hicks, Larry Hicks; sister, Carrie Holland; and four brothers, Dan, Ed, Lewis, Albert “Red,” David Holland. Mrs. Hicks is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Glenda Chandler (Rev. Wayne Chandler); sons, Mr. Jerry Hicks (Pam Harrell); Rev. Alan Hicks (Valerie Hicks); thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Clarence Holland, Luther Holland; three sisters, Coralee Lonon, Naomi Hensley, Estelle Rhinehart; and a host of extended family, friends, and Fellowship Baptist Church family. A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2016, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:30-12:45 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Hicks’ memory to a church or charity of your choice.
