Michael Glenn Shade, 73, of Garner NC, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. The oldest of three boys, Michael was born on March 08, 1952, Michael dedicated his life to service, both in the military and his family.
Michael proudly served 21 years in the Army Artillery and as a Military Police from February 22, 1972, to April 30, 1993, achieving the rank of First Sergeant. His military career took him to various parts of the world, including tours in Germany, Turkey, and Fort Bliss, where he earned a multitude of commendations for his bravery and leadership. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and he was a source of inspiration to all who knew him.
In his retirement, after earning a master's degree in teaching. Michael dedicated five years to teaching history in the public school system. Michael enjoyed fishing, gardening, collecting sports cards and spending time with family and friends. Michaels avid military knowledge shown throughout his years of service, particularly interested in military history, and enjoyed sharing stories and knowledge with anyone who would listen.
Michaels parents (Mother) Lillian Shade and (Father) Carroll Shade preceded him in death. Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Ayse Shade, two brothers Timothy and Patrick, two nieces and one nephew. His legacy lives on through his unwavering devotion to service, love, and dedication to his friends and family. Michael leaves us with so many memories and will remain cherished by everyone who knew him.
