Metta Burrichter Price

Metta B. Price, 83, a cherished wife, devoted mother, beloved sister and treasured friend, passed away on August 6, 2026.

Born on August 28, 1942, Metta was the daughter of August and Osa Burrichter. She grew up and spent her childhood in Homestead, Florida before attending the International School in Geneva, Switzerland, and later the McDuffie School in Springfield, Massachusetts. She continued her education at Duke University, where she met the love of her life, Phil Price. The two were married on September 7, 1952, in Durham, North Carolina, and together they built a loving home, raising two wonderful daughters.

Metta enjoyed many fun-filled summers at the beach and created cherished memories with family and friends in the Florida Keys, where days were spent boating, fishing and snorkeling. Her artistic talents were reflected in her love of decorating, photography and many forms of artwork. She relished playing cards with very special friends, and those gatherings were filled with laughter and camaraderie. Above all, her family was her greatest pride and joy.

Metta is survived by her devoted husband of almost 64 years, Phil Price; her loving daughter, Melissa Price; and her siblings, Minna B. Cornelisse and August Burrichter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin brother, Walter Burrichter; and her beloved daughter, Paige Price, whose memory she carried in her heart always.

In honor of Metta's deep love for nature and her commitment to preserving its beauty, memorial donations may be made to The Nature Conservancy.

In keeping with her wishes, all services will be private.
