Mattie Agnes M. Price, 97, passed away in her home on September 15, 2026 surrounded by her three children.
Born April 24, 1929 in Wake County, daughter of Gordon Bohannon (Sam) and Helen Stephenson Matthews and raised in Angier, NC.
Mattie graduated from Angier High School in 1947 and attended business school in Raleigh, NC, she was employed by First Citizens Bank. She married Marshall Lee Price in 1950.
Mattie was a member of Angier Baptist Church and enjoyed attending for many years. Mattie enjoyed quilting, needlework and a game of cards with her girlfriends. She loved sporting events, especially the UNC Tarheels basketball games and the Carolina Hurricanes hockey games. Mattie took great pride in her yardwork, every Thursday she found pleasure in riding her John Deere mower until the age of 92.
Mattie was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Marshall Lee Price; her four brothers, Wray, Mitchner, Marvin and Gordon Matthews; daughter-in-law, Elaine D. Price; and beloved grandson Brandon Lee Price.
Mattie is survived by her three children, daughters Martha G. Price of Raleigh, NC, Maria Price of Cape Cod, MA and son, Mark Price of Angier, NC; grand-daughters, Kelly Thomas (Chad); Allison Stephenson (Tracy); four great-granddaughters and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026 at 2:00pm at Angier Baptist Church, 155 S Hickory St, Angier, NC 27501. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, 2712 Oak Grove Church Rd, Angier, NC 27501. The family will receive friends Monday one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Her children would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Transitions Life Care and a special thank you to nurse Amanda.
