Mary Davis Roberson

Mary Davis Roberson, 80, of Garner, NC, passed away peacefully at WakeMed Hospital on June 18, 2026. Born on July 24, 1945, in Cumberland County, NC, to the late George Graham Davis, Sr. and Marie Elaine McDonald Davis, Mary leaves behind a legacy of education, kindness, and devotion to family.

Mary was the Valedictorian of her graduating class at Central High School in Eastover, NC. She continued her academic journey at Methodist College, where she earned her Bachelor's degree, followed by a Master's degree in Education from UNC-Greensboro.

Mary spent four decades in Greensboro, NC, before moving to Garner in 2019 to be closer to her daughter, Amy, and her granddaughters, Sara and Anna Claire. A dedicated educator, Mary served the Guilford County school system for over 20 years. She was known for going above and beyond for her students, possessing a special passion for literacy and helping children discover the joy of reading.

Mary never met a stranger. She greeted everyone she encountered with a welcoming smile and a gentle nod, making all who knew her feel seen and valued. Above all, she was deeply devoted to her family and took immense pride in the lives and accomplishments of her granddaughters. She was a long-time member of Starmount Presbyterian Church in Greensboro.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 37 years, Paul Bert Roberson; her son, Graham Thomas Roberson; her sister, Margaret Ann Davis Holmes; and her brother, George Graham Davis, Jr.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Amy Roberson Jinnette; her granddaughters, Sara and Anna Claire Jinnette of Garner, NC; her brother, William "Bill" Davis of Parkton, NC; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family who will miss her dearly.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home (1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529).

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Service: The service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment: A graveside service will follow at approximately 3:00 p.m. at Old Bluff Presbyterian Church in Wade, NC.
