Mary Catherine Sommers passed away on July 29, 2026 at Oak Hill Assisted Living. She was born December 16,1942 to Bernard and Catherine Sommers in Topeka, KS. She met her husband Bob while he was stationed at Forbes Air Force Base and they married August 4, 1962. They had three girls while living in Topeka and moved to Raleigh, NC in the late 1960's. She worked most of her life as a gifted floral designer coordinating many weddings. She was a wonderful entertainer and loved hosting people in her home where she was most often called Mema.
She is survived by her three children. Kim and husband Al Andrews, Cheryl and husband Mark Besanson, and Chris and husband Bill Beagle as well as grandchildren Logan (Anna), Ashlyn (Dave), Avery (Megan), Riley and three great grandchildren, Ava, Rose, and Watson. Also surviving are all five siblings, George, Bernadine, Tom, Jan, and Tim and sister-in-law Sarah Page. She also leaves behind many friends who she cherished dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Robert Clark. She was a faithful member of Mount Zion Global Methodist Church until her health started declining and attended faithfully with the heart of a servant visiting and writing cards as part of Care Ministry.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM at Mount Zion Global Methodist Church, 15772 NC-50, Garner NC 27529 with family visitation preceding the service from 2:00 PM - 2:45 PM. Her ashes will be spread at a later date as per her wishes.
