FUQUAY-VARINA – Mary Ann Spivey Wortham, 79, passed away on Sunday surrounded by her loving family. A native of Wake County, Mary Ann was the daughter of the late Marvin Lafayette and Margie Lee Pollard Spivey.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 27th at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1701 Bud Lipscomb Road, Willow Spring, NC 27592. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 PM prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Mary Ann is survived by her two children, Alan Wortham and wife, Michelle of Angier, Lavette Pope and husband, Mike of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Brian Pope (Amanda), April Pope, Bruce Wortham (Mary Beth), Ariel Wortham, Tori Slusser (Josiah), Austin Matthews (Xochil); sister, Bobbie Rhodes; brothers, W. Clinton Spivey (Debra), Glenn Spivey (Helen), and Mitchel Spivey; five great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Marshall Wortham; sister, Daisy Currin; and sisters-in-law, Treva Spivey, and Ruby Spivey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church, 1701 Bud Lipscomb Rd., Willow Spring, NC 27592 or The Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org in Mary Ann’s memory.
