Martha A. Peggy Baker

Martha Averette Peggy Baker, 76, died Wednesday at Wake Medical Center. A native of Sampson County, she was the daughter of the late Roy Vernon and Dora Wheeler Averette. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 PM Thursday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Baker Babb and husband, Thomas of Holly Springs; sons, Michael Baker, W. Cecil Baker and wife, Deborah and W. Eugene Baker, Jr., all of Garner; sisters, Mabel Cashwell of Raleigh, Edith Sorrell of Durham and Jewel Sauls of Garner; brother Edwin Hunter Averette of Franklinton, NC; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Eugene Baker, Sr. in 1988.
