Marlene Ferrell Mitchell

Marlene Ferrell Mitchell, 88, passed away on July 25, 2026, after a brief illness. She was born in Angier, North Carolina, to the late William Andrew Ferrell and Lucy Adams Ferrell. She made her home in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she lived a life centered on faith, family, and love.

Marlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Wilbur C. Mitchell, Sr., and her son, Wilbur Clayton Mitchell, Jr., affectionately known as Clay.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Kris Mitchell Pugh, and her husband, Bill; her daughter-in-law, Shelley Mitchell; her grandchildren, Dana Pollard (Lyle), Daniel Mitchell (Jessica), Justin Pugh (Courtney), Ashlyn Bubak (Jeffrey), Cameron Pugh, and Bryce Mitchell; and nine great-grandchildren. Her family was one of her greatest joys, and she cherished each of them dearly. She was also part of a neighborhood community that was like family to her.

Marlene was a devoted member of Calvary Raleigh Church and deeply loved the Lord. Her faith was an important part of her life and a source of strength and comfort to those who knew her. She took great pride in caring for her family and home. She loved crafting, was an excellent seamstress, and enjoyed reading and sudoku puzzles. In her younger days, she enjoyed gardening. Her creativity, gentle spirit, and devotion to her home and loved ones will be remembered fondly,

Marlene's love for the Lord, her devotion to her family, and her kind and caring presence will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew and loved her.
