Mark James Young, 64, passed away on October 16, 2026.
Born in North Carolina and originally from Niagara Falls, NY, Mark lived a life marked by hard work, determination, and devotion to his family. Throughout the years, he worked as a roofer, baker, and chef, taking pride in the many roles he held. He also honorably served in the Army National Guard.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Harriet Mastropoll (Nick) and Brian Young (Darlene), as well as his sister, Debbie Johnson.
He is survived by his sister, Colleen Lucchetti; his children, Bridget Soberanes (Erik), Brian Young, and Stephen Young (Sami); and his beloved grandchildren. He is also survived by Kathleen Young, the mother of his children, who remained an important part of his family; and his dear friends Dean and Katie Meyer, whose friendship meant a great deal to him. Mark is further survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Mark was known for his strong spirit and could be stubborn at times, but his heart was always in the right place. Those who knew him understood that, in his own way, he cared deeply for the people he loved.
His favorite title was "Papa." His granddaughters held a special place in his heart and brought out his gentlest side. He loved Ariel, Amiyah, and Mary Jane deeply and took great pride in being their Papa. Some of his happiest moments were spent with his girls, watching them grow and celebrating their accomplishments.
Though he will be deeply missed, Mark's memory lives on through his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. He will be remembered for his determination, his feisty spirit, and the love he carried for those closest to him.
A private family gathering will be held this weekend in North Carolina. Family and friends will gather at a later date in Niagara Falls, NY, for a remembrance service celebrating Mark's life.
Forever remembered, forever loved and forever Young.
