Marjorie "Margie" June Mangum (née McAllister), 91, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2026. Born June 10, 1935, in Salem, Oregon, Margie served in the U.S. Air Force, where she met her first husband, M.T. Britton. After he passed from an aneurysm, she later remarried Jay Mangum. Together they spent many years running a tobacco farm in Harnett County. Though she stayed busy as a farmer's wife, Margie devoted herself fully to helping her children and caring for her grandchildren.
She was a loving wife and mother who did her best to gather everyone around the table for Sunday dinner at their house after church. Margie worked for many years as a receptionist at Wake Christian Academy and also served with the U.S. Postal Service. She found joy in reading, cross-stitching, and collecting the things that made her smile-frog figurines, quilts, Jim Shore pieces, dolls, and Thomas Kinkade paintings.
Her grandchildren will always remember the afternoons spent with her after school: the perfect grilled cheese sandwiches, wearing aprons and making biscuits, and the silly nursery rhymes she sang while they swung together on her big white swing at the farmhouse. Her humor and big smile will be missed greatly.
Margie was preceding in death by her parents, Dexter and Lela McAllister; her husbands, M.T. Britton (married 17 years) and Jay Mangum (married 25 years) ; her sister and brother-in-law, Geri and Bill Kulik; and her great granddaughter Ellie June Arnold. She is survived by her daughter Kathy Donohue (Mike); sons Jeff Britton (Lisa), Tim Mangum, and Tom Britton (Janie); ten grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She loved and was loved by many.
