Luther Dean Thompson, a dedicated Anchor Foreman, Barge Foreman, and Lead Foreman in the international oil and gas industry, passed away on Saturday, the 27th of September 2025 at the age of 72, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love for family, and a deep appreciation for the natural world.
A lifelong lover of animals, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially outdoor gardening, and always stayed busy with his hands. Whether it was a project in the yard or caring for his beloved cats-Pestos, Curly, and Blackster-he lived with quiet purpose and a big heart.
He is survived by his children, Sean Dean Ash, Chanel Veit, and Dusty Ash; his sister Tammy and brother-in-law Randell Baker; his brother Michael and sister-in-law Peggy Thompson; and numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and grandchildren who will carry forward his memory with love and pride.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pat Miller Thompson; his parents, Benjamin Roy Thompson and Mary Jane Thompson; his sisters Caroline Matherne, Dana Braud, and Jacquelyn Naquin; and his nieces Danielle Naquin and Theresa Adams.
Luther Dean Thompson will be remembered not only for his tireless work ethic in a demanding industry but also for his kind spirit, love of family, and the peaceful joy he found in the company of animals and nature.
He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
