LuNell McKinney Ezzell

LuNell M. Ezzell, 72, of Garner, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026.

Born on September 7th, 1953, in Raleigh, LuNell was the beloved child of J. Royster McKinney and LaRue Wimberly McKinney. Throughout her life, she was known for her love, thoughtfulness, kindness, and generosity.

She loved Jesus first and foremost and learning more about Him through her commitment to the Ladies Bible Study Fellowship. She enjoyed God's creation through her love of gardening, sewing, cooking, listening to sermons (mostly R.C. Sproul and Stephen Davey), Christian music, and teaching children, but she looked forward most to time spent with her family. After the birth of her three sons, LuNell went on to work as a Librarian Assistant with the Wake County Public Library System for over 20 years.

LuNell was preceded in death by her father, Royster, her mother, LaRue, her brother, Rudy, and her sister, Kay.

She is survived by Glynn Ezzell, her husband of 55 years; her sons, Ryan, Aaron, his wife Rosie, Jamie and his wife Jessie; her grandchildren, Garrett, Emily, Kirsten, Taylor, Piper, Oliver, and Samantha; and numerous other members of her extended family, cherished neighbors, and dear friends.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Duke Hospital System and Aversboro Road Baptist Church for their compassionate care and support.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Aversboro Road Baptist Church, 1600 Aversboro Rd, Garner, NC, with a funeral service to follow. Entombment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S Wilmington St, Raleigh, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Aversboro Road Baptist Church Children's Ministry.

LuNell will be remembered for her desire to honor and worship her Savior with all of her heart, mind, and soul. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
