Linda Lou Collins Lawrence, 83, went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 15, 2025.
Linda Lou was born and raised in Angier where she met and married the love of her life, Gerald. Together they shared 62 faithful and loving years of marriage. She worked as a hairstylist for 48 years, cutting hair for family and friends, most of the time for free. She loyally served the Lord as a faithful member of Angier Primitive Baptist Church for 68 years where she loved singing acapella hymns as a talented alto. She had a heart of gold and found joy in giving to others, never expecting anything in return. Lou’s life reflected her belief that it was better to give than to receive. She found great pleasure in sewing, crafting beautiful masterpieces including curtains, pillows, bedding, prom dresses, and Disney princess gowns. One of her favorite pastimes was cheering for her daughter’s basketball teams - calling shots like a volunteer referee, never biased. She enjoyed hard work, finding joy in working daily on the family farm. Lou loved bluegrass music and made a yearly trip with Gerald to the bluegrass festival. As much as anything she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and her dog, Ginger. Her life was a quiet, beautiful testimony of faith, love, and selfless generosity.
Lou is survived by her devoted husband, Gerald Lawrence; son, Todd Lawrence (Mary Beth) of Raleigh; daughter, Wendy Lee (Billy) of Angier; granddaughter, Paige Lawrence of Little River, SC; and grandson, Clay Lawrence of Cashiers, NC; brother-in-law Elder Ronald Lawrence and wife Karen, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Dallas F. Collins Sr and Beulah Stephenson Collins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her twin sister, Betty Sue Upchurch; sisters, Peggy Ann Johnson, Sarah Weis, Inez Stephenson, Malissie Tripp, Bertha Pleasant, Mary Gilliam, Velma Myatt; brothers, Richard Allen “Sonny Boy” Collins, Dallas Collins Jr., Jimmy Collins, Colon Collins, and Clarence Collins.
Philippians 1:21
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
1 Corinthians 13:13
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
