Linda Smith Brown

Linda Smith Brown, 78, of Garner, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 2nd, 2026. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her family. Linda, the daughter of the late Horace and Edith Smith, from Dortches, NC, was born on August 11, 1947. Raised with a deep and unwavering faith in God, Linda knew from a young age the importance of family and faith in the Lord. Affectionately known as "Mama," she lived out God's word daily, dedicating her life to serving the Lord with love and a servant's heart. Linda loved being surrounded by her family, though she would be the first to tell you she would rather not be cooking for them!

Raising her children was her absolute joy in life, but her world became truly complete the day she became "Mama" to her two grandsons. From the time they were born, Mama was either caring for them, having sleepovers, or spending time talking about life. Both grandsons called Mama and Deda's house "Home". And in the last few years her youngest grandson, Dawson, lived with Mama and Deda and assisted in their caregiving.

Throughout her life, in addition to serving those she loved, she was called to work with children and adults with disabilities. This was the primary focus for a good substantial portion of her service work, both in the school system and in the church

She had a remarkable ability to remember everyone's birthdays and anniversaries but never seemed to have them written down anywhere. She had a gift for noticing the little details that meant so much to others.

It is without argument that the biggest love of her life was her husband, Ron Brown. They were married for 56 years. Having grown up together in a small town, Ron and Linda built a life on their strong faith in the Lord, their family values passed from generations before them, and their love for each other.

Linda is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ronald Brown; her children, David and Emily Brown, Melissa and Brian English; her grandchildren Greyson Brown and Dawson Brown. Her brother and his wife, Ronnie and Donna Smith and her sister Judy Curtis; Kim Brown, Joan Brown, Bill and Georgia Fuller, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, and others that called her "Mama".

Linda is preceded in death by her son Kevin Michael Brown, her parents Horace and Edith Smith and brothers-in-law Donald Brown, Tom Brown and Kent Curtis.

The family will receive friends and relatives at 11:30am on Saturday August 22, 2026 at Aversboro Road Baptist Church of Garner NC (1600 Aversboro Rd, Garner, NC 27529), followed by a Memorial Service in the Sanctuary at 1:30pm.
