Linda Sue Anderson, born on December 9, 1945, to Linda House Gibbs and Davis Leroy Gibbs, passed away on April 2, 2026, surrounded by her family at her home. Sue had been battling Parkinson's disease for several years.
Sue was an exceptional individual, excelling in various activities. Her family members attempted to challenge her in different games, but she consistently emerged victorious. Whether it was bowling, playing cards, dominoes, dancing, tennis, or cooking, she was almost unbeatable. Even well into her middle age, she was still beating her grandson's in basketball with her "left hook." And let's not forget her legendary fried chicken! Susie Gibbs Anderson was the co-captain of her Whitaker's basketball team during her freshman year of high school and later became a basketball coach at Grace Fellowship School in Durham in the mid-80s. She was an infectious person who left behind a legacy of love for Jesus, her husband, children, grands and greats. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Terri Anne Blansett, brother Lawrence Gibbs, mother Linda House Gibbs, father Davis L Gibbs, and a grandson, Alan Martin.
Sue is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, TJ Anderson, who tirelessly cared for her over the past few years. She is also survived by her four daughters: Sheri Jenkins and her husband, Chris Jenkins, Kristy Sampson and her husband, R.J. Sampson, Beth Harrison and her husband, Steve Harrison, Amanda "Duck" Sather and her husband, Scott Sather, as well as 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
God was Sue's greatest love, and her family was an incredibly close second. Her friends would say that she had a remarkable ability to captivate an audience and she never met a stranger. We are certain that she is already being assigned the task of welcoming souls as Heaven's Greeter. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
