Leland E. Batten

FUQUAY-VARINA– Leland Ethridge Batten, 89, passed away Sunday at his home surrounded by his loving family. A native of Johnston County, he was the son of the late Robert and Martha Pittman Batten. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 20th at Raleigh Memorial Park at 2:00 PM. Leland is survived by his wife of 69 years, Shirley Lee Batten of the home; sons, Jeff Batten (Cathy) of Newport, Chris Batten and friend, John Wheeler of Louisburg; daughter, Sonia Gregory (Chris) of Fuquay-Varina; five grandchildren; Heather Fields and husband, Kevin of Creedmoor, Jeff Batten, II and wife, Jill of Rougemont, Amber Ross and husband, Eric of Wake Forest, Tabitha Talley and husband, Mitch of Fuquay-Varina, Jenny Turner of Fuquay-Varina; nine great-grandchildren, Camden Fields, Brayden Fields, River Batten, Ryder Batten, Hudson Ross, Hazel Ross, Emmie Talley, Corey Turner and Myles Turner.
