Larry Wayne Guin Sr.

Larry Wayne Guin, Sr. was born in Four Oaks, North Carolina to Aaron Lester "Papa" Guin & Mary Ethel "Mema" Guin née Morris. Raised alongside his siblings-Jerry Lester Guin, Betty Joyce Guin after him, and Ronald Keith "Ronnie" Guin- Larry grew into a man whose sociable, loveable, and admirable nature would come to define the life he built and the many relationships he cherished.

Larry's family grew first with the birth of his first son and namesake, Larry Wayne Guin, Jr., known to most simply as "Wayne". As Wayne grew, father and son shared a love for the outdoors and motocross racing, creating memories together and through adventure and time spent outside.

In 1972, he answered the call to serve after being drafted into the US Army. This took him first into Vietnam and later stationed him on the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). After two years of service, Larry was honorably discharged him at the rank of Private Second Class (PV2) and returned home to begin the next chapter in his life.

He found his calling in auto-body repair, a craft he worked diligently to master. He spent more than 40 years with Tunstall & Williams, Inc., where his work became much more than a career. Over these decades, his coworkers became as close as family as he took genuine pride and enjoyment in the work he did each day. His dedication remained with him throughout his life, and he continued doing the work he loved into his final months.

Later in life, Larry met Linda Ann Frazier through shared social circles, and their relationship grew into a lasting partnership. The two married in 1992. Three years later, they welcomed their son, Patrick Lewis Guin, and Larry's family-and his role as a father-grew once again.

With Patrick, Larry found joy in the simple experiences that become some of life's most treasured memories. They worked together around the house, traveled to Disney World, and spent countless happy hours cooking at college tailgates. Whether he was fixing something, preparing food, traveling with family, or simply spending time with the people he loved, Larry had a way of turning ordinary moments into memories worth keeping.

He did not need extraordinary circumstances to create extraordinary memories. A day spent working on something together, an afternoon outdoors, a trip with family, a tailgate, a conversation with an old friend, or simply being surrounded by the people he loved was enough.

Above all, Larry's life was deeply rooted in family. He had the privilege of watching that family grow across generations-from his sons to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with another granddaughter, Aira Evelyn Guin, soon to join the family and carry a piece of his legacy into the next generation.

In December 2025, Larry was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. He faced the months that followed surrounded by the family whose lives had been woven so closely into his own. On August 7th, 2026 at 2:12 pm, he passed away surrounded by his family.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Frazier Guin; his siblings, Jerry Guin, Betty Hurst, and Ronnie & Donna Guin; his sons, Larry Wayne Guin, Jr. and Patrick and Angelina Guin; his grandchildren, Kayla Renee Manson, Haylie Guin Ludlum, Mia Rylee Guin, and, soon-to-arrive, Aira Evelyn Guin; his great-grandchildren, Jaxson Ludlum, Cayden Manson, Raelyn Manson, and Leo Ludlum; and his dear niece and nephews, Justin, Sameul, Jordan, and Kati. He leaves a family with cherished memories of a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, veteran, and hardworking man whose presence touched generations with a life well-built.
