Kenneth Cunningham Edwards

Kenneth Cunningham Edwards, age 82, of Fuquay-Varina, NC died on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at WakeMed-Raleigh. He was born on January 4, 1944, in Lenior County, NC to the late Joseph and Maria Cunningham Edwards.

He loved his family and cherished all the memories he had with them. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Yarborough Edwards; his children, Richard Edwards (Megan), Lisa Heller, Michele Freeman (Mike) and Wally McLean; his grandchildren, Zachary Freeman, Savannah McLean, Baili Heller, Jonah Heller, Sophie McLean, Lauren Edwards, Will Edwards, Mia Edwards and Jack Heller; his sister, Jeanie Tomkins (Don); and his nephew, Brent Hudgins.

Ken was a United States Marine. The Marine Corp shaped him into the man he was and often made sure that people knew that he was a proud Marine. He was a member of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation. Following his time in the Marines, he graduated from UNC.

His memorial service will be Monday, April 6, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Neill’s Creek Baptist Church, 4200 Neill’s Creek Rd. Angier, NC. The family will receive friends following the service in the church until 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Neill’s Creek Baptist Church Refresh Project.
