Kathryn Laney Haire, (age 97), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on (date of passing) at her son's home in Cary, NC. Born May 7, 1929, in Catawba County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Grady and Bessie Stroupe Laney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Wendell Haire, as well as her brother, Lamar Laney (Sue, and after Sue's passing, Doris).
Kathryn was a 60-year resident of Garner, NC, and an active member of the local Neighborhood Club. She was also a 70-year member of First Baptist Church in Garner, where she served for many years as a children's Sunday School teacher, a nursery worker, and a member of the decorating committee. She deeply cherished her family, loved Christmas, and spent many hours crocheting, creating Christmas tree ornaments, and making ceramics. Kathryn was a devoted wife and loving homemaker, who cooked delicious meals--which usually included her homemade biscuits and jellies--for her family and friends.
Kathryn is survived by her sons, Terry Haire (Barbara) and Chris Haire; her grandchildren Shannon Wright (Brian), Jenna Tarleton (Drew), Kim Alford (Dallas IV), and Glenn Weaver; her great grandchildren Laken Wright, London Wright, Banks Wright, Baylor Tarleton, Landry Tarleton, Dallas Alford V, Maven Alford, and Caroline Aman; her sister-in-law Virginia Haire, and multiple precious nieces and nephews. Kathryn is also survived by close family friends Donna and Lane Pearce.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Garner, 601 St. Mary's Street, Garner, NC 27529. The family will receive friends an hour and a half prior, from 9:30am to 10:45am, also at First Baptist Church of Garner. A graveside service will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC 27603.
