Jung Kang Park

It is with much love that we mourn the passing of Jung Kang (Konnie) Park, who peacefully passed away on August 22nd, 2025 at the age of 82. She was surrounded by her loving family in her home in Garner, NC.

Born on June 10th, 1943 in Jinan, South Korea, she was the cherished oldest daughter of the late Pyung Moon Kang & Busan Park. Well loved and respected by those who knew her, she graduated top of her class at Jeonju Nursing School in 1963 and held positions as a nurse in Korea, Dusseldorf, Germany & Ottawa, Canada. After playing hard to get, Konnie married in 1970 and was the devoted wife to Jae Kyu Park for 55 years, and together they built a life in North Carolina, obtaining their US Citizenship, establishing their own business, and growing their family. Working hard as a mother, after having her three children: Susan, Pattie, and Andy; in 1998, Konnie received official qualifications as a Registered Nurse in the United States. She then went on to work at Dorothea Dix Hospital with a tenure of over 25 years, servicing and supporting hundreds of patients.

In her free time, she was usually golfing with her husband, Jae, leading the NC Korean Women's Golf Club as President, or worshiping and socializing with her church community, First Korean Baptist Church. Konnie also served and volunteered as a member of the Korean American Chamber of Commerce in Raleigh.

A dedicated mother and grandmother, she was known for her hard work ethic, incredible home cooking, creative skills in cross stitching & sewing, love for summer swimming, and passion for golfing. Konnie will be remembered for her sweet charm, strong presence, elegance, poised demeanor, glamourous style, and formidable spirit -- despite her petite size, accomplishing two holes in one on the golf course in her retirement. She imparted her legacy to her family through their traditional Korean culture while providing the freedom and every opportunity that America offered. Her infectious giggle, thoughtful warm spirit, and wise advice were comforting to all who knew her.

Konnie was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Yang-Uk Kang. She is survived by her husband, Jae Kyu Park and her children, Susan Insun Park Lewis, her husband, Gray Lewis, Patricia Inouk Park, and Jong Duck Andrew Park; her grandchildren, Cassia Umi Lewis Cameron, and her husband, Matthew Cameron; her siblings, Chang Young Kang, Young Ja Kang, Sang-uk Kang, Gillium Kang, Young-uk Kang, Chang-uk Kang, & Yong-uk Kang.

A visitation for friends & family will be held at Bryan Lee Funeral Home in Raleigh, NC on Saturday, August 30th, 2025, at 2:00pm with a formal funeral service to begin at 3:00pm.
