Julian Witing Hughes

Julian Witing Hughes III (Jay) of Clayton, NC was born on December 12, 1957 and passed away on August 30, 2021. Jay was a proud Naval veteran following six years of service on a nuclear submarine, and later served as a volunteer firefighter in Wrightsville Beach and New Bern. He was a talented musician, an avid motorcyclist, and a warmhearted member of a large extended family. Jay is survived by his parents, Julian Hughes Jr. and Patricia Byrd Hughes, his sister Julia Hughes Williams, four sons, Robert Witing Hughes (Alison), Ryan Alexander Hughes, Justin Adam Hughes, Jonathan Weston Hughes (Jessica), and 10 beloved grandchildren. A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
