Joy Ogburn Dry

Joy Ogburn Dry, age 82, passed away March 20, 2026 in her home with her family at her side. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born November 5, 1943, in Willow Spring, Johnston County, North Carolina, to the late Charles Lee and Eurice Langdon Ogburn.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Willard Dry, Jr., her sister, Shirley Ogburn McLaurin, and nephew, Eugene Daryl Myers.

She was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church since 1972. Throughout her 50-plus years at the church, she was involved in VBS, youth ministry, nursery ministry and was a longtime ladies' Sunday school teacher. She also enjoyed being part of the "Sisters at Heart" Bible study group at Wake Chapel Christian Church in Fuquay-Varina.

She is survived by her children, Jessica Beth Dry and Frederick "Fred" Dry and wife, Kim; sister, Jo Anne Ogburn Myers and husband, Leamon; grandchildren Andrew Dry and wife, Ryan; Amanda Dry Helder and husband, Ryan, all of Willow Spring; and great-grandchildren Lyla Elizabeth and Jesse Robert Dry, and Warren Charles Helder, along with many nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideons International or Transitions LifeCare.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, 5029 Old Stage Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27603, followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m.

Burial will follow at Sandy Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 19715 North Carolina Highway 210, Angier, North Carolina 27501.
