John "Terry" Thomas Roderick

ANGIER - John "Terry" Thomas Roderick, 80, passed away on September 23, 2025. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 17, 1944, and was the beloved son of the late Robert Lee Roderick and Carrie Marie Stephenson.

Terry was a loving husband, devoted father, brother, and grandfather. He honorably served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps from March 8, 1965, to April 21, 1969. On November 25, 1979, he married the love of his life and best friend, Linda Blalock Roderick, spending 41 memorable years together before Linda's passing on June 18, 2021.

Terry was a hardworking individual who lived a life marked by a deep commitment to honor and service. For over 40 years, he contributed his talents as a salesman at Patterson Dental Supply Company, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. Outside of his professional life, Terry found joy in life's simple pleasures, he had a profound passion for history, proudly participating in many Civil War reenactments. He also served as a respected and longstanding member of the Harnett County Vietnam Veterans Honor Guard and took immense pride in performing military honors for his fellow veterans.

One of Terry's greatest joys was found in his cherished relationship with his great grandson, Lane Hobson, whom he fondly referred to as his "little buddy." The bond they shared brought immense happiness and light into his life.

Terry will be remembered fondly by his family and friends as a man of great strength and determination. His legacy will live on through the family he cherished and the many lives he touched through his kindness and generosity.

In addition to his parents, Terry is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Blalock Roderick; and brother, Gary Stephenson.

Terry is survived by his loving daughter, Torri Hobson; brothers, Ray Stephenson and wife Sonja of Fuquay Varina, and Gerald Stephenson and wife Cindy of Florida; sister, Phyllis Turner of Virginia; grandchildren, Matthews Hobson and Stacy Hobson; and great grandchildren, Lane Hobson and Karsyn Hobson.

Terry will be laid to rest during a private family committal service at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Terry's memory to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Organization.
