John Wayne Hoyle

John Wayne Hoyle, 85, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026. Born April 27, 1941 in Cleveland County, NC, he was the son of the late Paul Alexander and Laurine Carpenter Hoyle.

Wayne graduated from Fallston High School in 1959 and immediately answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy, becoming an avid Navy fan watching his son Jeff proudly serve for 28 years as a Naval Officer. Following his military service, he built a lifelong career in the automobile parts industry, where his work and his passion for racing naturally came together. Long before sponsorships became commonplace, Wayne supplied parts and paint to NASCAR teams, forging lasting friendships and creating memories around the sport he loved. A devoted NASCAR enthusiast, he traveled with friends to tracks across the country, including Daytona, Talladega, and Charlotte.

For nearly 64 years, Wayne shared a beautiful marriage with the love of his life, Martha, and together they raised their two sons, Jeff and Brad. Wayne and Martha enjoyed many years on the golf course, a game he first learned alongside Martha’s father, and in his younger years, he was also an avid bowler. In his later years, he loved standing beside Martha in the bleachers, watching their favorite sporting events. Wayne truly enjoyed supporting his sons in all their endeavors. After the birth of his granddaughter Katie, she became his best buddy. Wayne always had a joke or a story to share.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Martha Brandon Hoyle; sons, Jeff Hoyle and his wife, Brigid of Solana Beach, CA, and Brad Hoyle, and his wife, Carolyn of Raleigh, NC; granddaughter, Katie Hoyle of Charlotte, NC; and brother, Jerry Hoyle, and his wife, Anne of Matthews, NC. Wayne also had many in-laws, nieces and nephews throughout the United States who loved him as well.

He was preceded in death by both his parents.
