John Harold Davis

John Harold Davis, 93, a retired engineer with the NC Dept. of Transportation, died Friday. A native of Wilson Co., he was the son of the late Harley and Mary Strickland Davis. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the 840th Engineer Aviation Battalion. John was a Sunday School teacher for the Men’s Bible Class at the Garner United Methodist for over forty years. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:00 pm at Garner United Methodist Church. A private burial will be at Stantonsburg Cemetery, Stantonsburg, NC. Surviving: his wife of 65 years, Marian Waddell Davis; sons Mike Davis, Daniel Davis and Glenn Davis; granddaughters, Jennifer Murphy and Rebecca Davis and great-grandsons, Ben and Timothy Murphy. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm Monday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Garner United Methodist Church, 201 Methodist Dr., Garner, NC 27529.
