Joan Matlin Herndon

DURHAM - Joan Matlin Herndon, 80, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. Born November 21, 1944 in Brooklyn, New York. She was the daughter of Cantor Bernard and Leona Matlin.

A graveside service will be held Monday, August 18, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Raleigh Hebrew Cemetery, 450 N. State Street, Raleigh, NC 27601.

Joan is survived by her nieces, Debbie Hibberd and her husband, Jim, Charlene Gold and her husband, Jerome, and Beth Adkins; and her nephew, David Kauffman and his wife, Cindy.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband, Otis Herndon; and sister, Sandra Matlin Hanberry.
