Jerry Lane Wayman, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on March 15, 2026 in the company of his beloved wife Judy Wayman (nee Edwards).
Born February 4, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri, Jerry was raised by Hildred Watson (nee Sifferman). As a child, he spent summers with his grandparents , Lewis and Nellie Sifferman, on their farm in Republic, MO. In Kansas City, he worked in computers for Firestone Tire Company and was transferred to Akron, Ohio in 1964. Jerry earned his degree in Finance from the University of Akron.
Jerry was a loving husband and devoted father, son and grandson. He met his wife Judy at Premier Industrial in Cleveland and married in 1990. After many years in Ohio they escaped the snow and moved to Garner, North Carolina, where they enjoyed over 20 years of pleasant weather and good friends.
Jerry and Judy enjoyed visiting family and cruising to destinations throughout the world. In Garner, he enjoyed dining out, borrowing books from the local library, and playing bridge, where his friendly demeanor and smiling face were always a welcome addition to any game.
Jerry is survived by his daughters, Carol Wayman (Elizabeth Carswell), Barbara Wayman (James Jones), Kathryn Dula (Bob Paris), Lauren Wojcuich (Chris) and grandchildren Hailey, Abby, Penny, Jack, Michael and Emma.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Hildred Watson his stepfather Roland (Ronnie) Watson, his grandparents and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial visitation on Wednesday, March 18, from 1-3 p.m. at the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you read a suspenseful thriller while enjoying a good snack and a tasty cocktail in his memory.
