Jennifer Wells Sommers

Jennifer Wells Sommers, 53, of Raleigh, NC, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on August 18, 2012 at Wake Medical Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday August 23 at Asbury United Methodist Church. Reverend Terry Bryant will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday August 22 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Raleigh. Burial will follow the funeral at Oakwood Cemetery. Jennifer was born in Hopewell, Virginia on April 8, 1959. A native of Chester, Virginia, she graduated from Thomas Dale High School and from James Madison University. Jennifer married Kevin Sommers on May 2, 1992; they were married for twenty years, and had a uniquely strong and loving relationship.Jennifer was a teacher at the Asbury United Methodist Church preschool, and a counselor in the family programs at the Finley YMCA. She was very active in her church and at her sons schools. Jennifer loved sunning on the beach, creating beautiful scrapbooks of family photos, organizing events for her sons activities, going on vacations, socializing with friends and family, and playing with Ollie, their Labrador retriever. Jennifer brought a sparkle to any room she entered; her generous spirit and cheerful nature touched everyone she met. Above all, she was a fantastic Mom. She will be greatly missed.Jennifer is survived by her husband Kevin, and their sons, Eric and Mark; by her parents, Rodney and Teressa Wells; and by her sisters, Leslie Wells and Emily Hatch.
