Jean McDade Baker, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, 68, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Angier, North Carolina on January 15, 2026. Born on February 14, 1957 in Moore County, North Carolina to the late John and Ruth McDade, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Jean's greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Jean's love for nurturing things was evident in her beautiful plants. She loved spreading happiness with her baking and chocolates, and had an extraordinary gift for nurturing deep, lasting relationships with those around her and making others laugh.
In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her angel baby Mary Baker and her brother, William McDade.
Jean is survived by her former husband and close friend Larry Baker; her sons, Jason Baker (Amanda), Thomas Baker (Tabatha), and Curt Baker; sisters, Thelma Tanner of Texas, Helen Browning of North Carolina, Patricia Oliver of North Carolina, Melissa Mahar of Texas, and Marie Wachsmuth of Florida; brothers, Martin McDade of North Carolina, Daniel McDade of the District of Columbia, and John McDade of Florida; and her four cherished grandchildren, Ashley Baker, Lacy Holloman, Levi Baker, and Noah Baker, to whom their Mimi will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home of Angier, 300 E. McIver Street, Angier, North Carolina 27501. A private burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice.
